Her family was the owners of the Jackson Koehler Eagle Brewery established in 1847, in Erie Pennsylvania where her grandfather John Martin Magenau Jr. served as President and CEO before its demise in the year 1978. Jacobs began her acting studies when she was eight years old and was enrolled in the acting class on Saturdays at the Pittsburgh Playhouse while growing up.She performed with the Pittsburgh Public Theater where she was a perennial contender for the Public's Shakespeare Monologue Contest leading her to be chosen as Titania in the stage production A Midsummer Night's Dream. After graduating from Mt. Jacobs graduated from Lebanon High School in New York, in the year 2000. After that, she relocated to New York City to study in the Juilliard School. In 2004, she graduated with a bachelor's degree.
